Instructions
Cherry Filling
- 4 cups /1000 mL pitted cherries, fresh or frozen
- 1/2 cup/125 mL white sugar (Add up to 1 1/2 cups/355 mL for a sweeter filling)
- 4 tablespoons/60 mL flour
- 1 teaspoon/5 mL Watkins Organic Ground Cinnamon
Crumble
- 1 cup/250 mL flour
- 1 cup/250 mL old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup/250 mL brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon/5 mL Watkins Organic Ground Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon/5 mL Watkins Organic Ground Nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon/5 mL Watkins Organic Ground Ginger
- 1 cup/250 mL cold butter, cubed
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350F /175C
Cherry Filling
- Combine sugar, flour, and Watkins Organic Ground Cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
- Gently fold in the cherries until they are coated with the dry mixture. Set it aside.
Crumble
- Combine flour, old-fashioned rolled oats, brown sugar, Watkins Organic Ground Cinnamon, Watkins Organic Ground Nutmeg, and Watkins Organic Ground Ginger in a large mixing bowl.
- Cut in cold butter cubes until the mixture resembles coarse crumbles with a pastry blender or two forks.
Assembly
- Press half of the crumbled mixture into the bottom of a greased large cast iron pan or 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Cover with cherry mixture.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture evenly over the cherries.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 45 minutes or until the cherry filling is bubbling and the top is golden brown.
Serving Suggestion: Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
